When you are interacting with your children this weekend, try to turn your 1 sentence responses or directions into 3 sentences. Doing this will not only increase your “Talking” time but will also encourage your little one to speak in return. Let your babies babble – and give your toddlers enough time to respond (5-12 seconds for kids–adults only need 2) The more you talk–the more they hear = larger base of vocabulary. Research has shown that a child’s vocabulary is directly related to the amount of language spoken to him/her. Best wishes as you give it a try!
